Mountains Like They Used to Be

The mountains of the Terres de Mestral seem to enjoy dipping their feet in the sea. The Llaberia Mountain Range and the Tivissa-Vandellòs Mountains are outstanding natural viewpoints overlooking both the Mediterranean and the inland landscapes. These mountain ranges were farmed until around fifty years ago and have since become natural areas of remarkable character and beauty. The Llaberia Mountain Range is a protected natural area featuring spectacular ravines and cliffs, rich and diverse wildlife, and typically Mediterranean flora and vegetation. The Tivissa-Vandellòs Mountains are also a protected area that remains relatively unknown today, despite having served for centuries as a major route linking the Ebro River and the Mediterranean Sea.

Inhabited since ancient times, these mountain ranges tell stories of bandits, fish trading routes, legendary vampires and guerrilla fighters such as Carrasclet.
