The Llena Climb and Sant Blai Hermitage (Birthplace of the GR Trails)

The Llena Climb and Sant Blai Hermitage (Birthplace of the GR Trails)

Circular route of approximately 6.7 km with a cumulative ascent of 445 m. Around 61.1% of the route follows tracks and there is a water point on the final section. Part of the route coincides with the GR-7 trail (red and white markings).

The hike begins on Avinguda Catalunya, opposite Carrer de la Llena. From there, take the path that climbs along the Camí de la Llena, the main connection point with the Tivissa mountains, with several stone-paved sections. The final stretch is marked by sharp bends and views of the Coves de la Llena caves. Once at the top, looking north, you can see the village of Tivissa, much of the Priorat region, Montsant and, on clear days, the highest peaks of the Huesca and Lleida Pyrenees.

Once at Coll de la Llena, take the right-hand turn and follow the descending track to Coll de Monetze, then continue along the track to Coll del Ventall.

From this pass, take the right-hand turn and follow the paved track to the Sant Blai hermitage, where the first GR trail markings were painted in 1975, making it the birthplace of these long-distance hiking routes.

Following the track, you reach the Font de Sant Blai spring. From there, continue to a fork, where you leave the track and take the path on the right, which leads back to the village of Tivissa.
