Three routes, to discover the sea bed of Vandellòs i L'Hospitalet de l'Infant

The submarine itineraries are in the beaches of the Arenal and of the Almadrava and to Cala Bea and the points with information are put up signs by buoys to announce the natural heritage of the sea bed of Vandellòs i L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, the Town hall has organized three submarine itineraries. By means of these itineraries, the fans of the snorkel, they can observe the species more typical of posidonia, a plant, not an alga, with roots, stems, leaves and flowers, considered by the European Union as a habitat of priority protection. 

It is necessary to bear in mind that in this municipality one finds one of the coastal striping better preserved of the coast of Tarragona, with sea beds that shelter meadows of posidonia (oceanic Posidonia) of great ecological value. In fact, the presence of posidonia is one of the principal factors for which it departs from the marine area of the municipality Nature is catalogued as space of the Red Natura 2000.

Besides bottom with posidonia, across this one itineraries also can observe funds of sand and rock, where they can find a great number of plants and animals, as for example sea anemones, espirógrafos, julioles, red stars, cucumbers of sea, hedgehogs, breams, etc. The routes, which have created on the basis of the study of the sea bed done for undertaken Environmental Marine Services (SUBMON), are located in the Beach of the Arenal touching the port, to the Cala Bea and in the Beach of the Almadrava. In these tours they have installed a few submarine soffits, which have been marked by a buoy of color, where there are information and photographies of the species most typical of the bottom, because the bathers, with his circles and pipe, could identify them.

With this new service, the council " wants to announce the biological wealth of the sea bed of the coast of Vandellòs i L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, very valued by the quality and the transparency of his waters; to extend the offer of activities to the beaches and to promote the sports practice ", has affirmed the political officer of Tourism, Elidía Lopez.
