The Shaded Slopes of Els Borjos and Les Meliques
Circular route of approximately 8.9 km with a cumulative ascent of 670 m. Around 32.6% of the route follows forest tracks and there are no water points. Part of the route coincides with the PR-C 92 trail (white and yellow markings).
The hike begins on Passeig de la Foig, opposite the tourist office, and follows the promenade southeastwards. At the end, a path branches off to the left, alternating with sections of track, and leads towards the climb of Els Borjos, marked at a junction on the right.
The trail crosses a cool, shaded woodland with pine trees, holm oaks, oaks, maples, and occasional yew and holly trees. It reaches the highest elevations, where the vertical cliffs of Els Borjos and the Cova de la Gralla cave (on the right) can be seen. The route then descends slightly before beginning another climb to the junction known as the “Pujador del Despistat”. This section is equipped with ropes to ensure safe passage across the rocky terrain.
Once at the highest point of this ascent, take the path on the right and continue until reaching a small threshing floor at the end of the descent. From there, follow the forest track to the left, passing directly through the Corral de les Meliques, where a herd of white goats can be seen during part of the year.
Continuing along the track leads to Coll de Monetze, where a striking rocky escarpment offers views of Tivissa in the north-west valley and much of the Ribera d’Ebre region. Continue northeast along the descending track to Coll de la Llena, then take the path on the right that returns to the village via the Camí de la Llena, passing caves at the foot of the cliffs and the stone-paved bends of the historic path.
