Pilgrimage to the hermitage of Saint Blai
The Sunday after February 3 is celebrated the pilgrimage to the hermitage of Saint Blai. Formerly he went on pilgrimage on foot along the horseshoe path, carrying the saint's relic.
There is a mass in honor of the saint, traditional food with caldereta of less, sardanas and games and cucañas for the little ones. These days also it is typical to eat cakes of San Blai and also biscuits with the figure of the saint, called blaiets.
Saint Blai, the sore throat healer
In 316, when he was taken to prison, a mother stopped him crying because his son had stuck a thorn in his throat and did not breathe.
The prisoner was a very good doctor, and managed to heal the child, but shortly afterwards he was martyred and beheaded. Since then, he is considered the lawyer and protector of these diseases.
A typical phrase known by all the tivissans is: St. Blai glorious, cure me the cough.
The Saint who painted roads
However, not everyone knows that Saint Blai might well be the patron saint of hikers and roads.
On March 2, 1975, in Saint Blai, an episode took part in the history of Catalan trekking: the first GR-7 mark was painted, the first long-distance path of the Iberian Peninsula (Històries de Muntanya Endins)
