The Saint who Marked Paths, Sant Blai
Everybody knows that Saint Blai relieves a sore throat. In Tivissa, in fact, they bake the so called Coques de Sant Blai and some very nice biscuits called Blaiets, although it has not been proved they relieve a sore throat, they certainly sweeten the spirit.
Not everybody knows, however, that Saint Blai could be the patron for trekkers and trekking. On 2 March 1975, on Saint Blai’s day, the first mark for the GR-7, the first long way path in the Iberian Peninsula was painted.
